The Civic TrustFamilies from across the district are being invited to join in a picnic at the park from noon to dusk on Saturday with Morris dancers, music, a tree-planting ceremony and lantern-making workshop.
The free event, organised by Daventry District Council and the Friends of Daventry Country Park, will include fun and games for younger visitors and will culminate in a candlelit lantern procession.
Materials to make the lanterns will be provided free, but people are asked to bring their own candles.
Samantha Webb, chairman of the friends, said: “The Country Park remains a place that families can come and relax, and we want this celebration to be something that different generations can enjoy together.
“It is a lovely park and one that holds special significance for so many people, including myself. It is such a tranquil place for people to come.
“We want as many people as possible to celebrate this special landmark by joining us on the day – rain or shine!”
Daventry Mayor Peter Harper and DDC chairman Tony Scott will start the programme of events at 12.30pm by planting two oak trees to signify the past and the future of the park.
There will also be an exhibition of old pictures in the visitor centre showing how the site used to look and how it has become the wildlife haven it is today.
DDC leader Chris Millar said: “Over the past 30 years the Country Park has changed and matured. Looking back over old photographs makes you realise just how far it has come.
“There have been hundreds of events here over that time and the photos on display reflect the fun had by families across the Daventry district and beyond. The Country Park remains one of the nicest places in the district to relax, spend time with friends and family and learn about wildlife.”
